MARLEE BACKPACKS ACROSS EUROPE

MARLEE'S BACKPACK

Backpack Straps

(Fun pockets for tags!)
So the other day as I was showing a friend my All About Me Printer Tray her daughter was there. She was attracted to the same thing I was...the Eiffel Tower. This has been a dream of mine FOREVER. I don't know if it is the romantic in me or the want to see history up close and personal, but it has always drawn me in. When Marlee got excited about the tower as well it took me back in time. You know, when you are a little girl and anything and everything is possible. When you make lists of things you want to do some day and there is NO doubt in your mind that you will do each and everyone of those goals you have written down. Now those lists have become even more important to me as I get older. I see how I have lived this wonderful life that has been a journey. Maybe not the journey that many people would have taken, but the one that I would not have changed for the world. But as woman many times we have a list that we set aside and forget about because there are so many other things that come up in life. I get it, I know how one day life is grand and the next the wind is taken out of your sails and a new mountain to climb has popped up in front of you. I know of which I speak, BELIEVE ME! But what if as grown woman we still dreamed. And what if we shared those dreams with our friends and our children. It could spread like wild fire. Being able to dream keeps hope alive and makes us work for something. I know sometimes things happen in life that take the path of a future as we have seen it for a very long time and changes it. But with life and dreams if you hold on to your base and your sense of self you can always jump from one path to another and find the road that takes you to your dream tower. So Marlee, thank you for inspiring me to create this little backpack for a trip to Europe, because if we all take those little girl dreams with us we will never forget who we truly are!

50TH BIRTHDAY CARD!

Hi all! Sorry it has been a week since I dropped in. We have been totally crazy busy around here. I just wanted to show you a little Happy 50th I just made for my aunt. I love Amy Butler papers and realized I hadn't used any in a while. So here they are. I was hooping around the blogs and saw this fun little flower being made and wanted to make some. I changed the sizes a bit but they are a lot of fun. And then ofcourse the bling. I love having those fun and shiny elements to add to things don't you.

And then there is this picture I must add. My husband is having a ton of fun playing in the yard with the tractor and yes I think his tractor is Sexy for you country music fans. It is like he is a kid in a giant Tonka Toy. Should he have been a farmer instead of a Electrican? Maybe, but I like to say I have my own personnal landscaper. I just wish he would wear a pair of tighter jeans while he worked!

NOT ALL WALL HANGINGS NEED TO BE FRAMED!

I just located this bright blue eyed one year old boy. He is 4 1/2 now, but I love the two teeth and the little chunky face. And of course the face framed with red hair. We where living in a apartment at this time while we built our current house. We sold the last one before we where even ready to start building. So no it was not a big party, not enough room for that, but it was special just the same when we are celebrating this little guy.

The papers are from Sassafras and the foam thickers are from American Crafts. They originally where black. You all have seen me do this before. I painted the black thickers with cream paint then sprayed with, you guessed it, Glimmer Mist. If you add together different colors and then top coat with a silver or gold Glimmer Mist it gives a great look of metal.

You may not always be able to control it, but I think this is what is so great about Glimmer Mist. It gives us all a new way to mix colors and try for great out comes. Try it yourself!

WHOOOO LOVES YOU LIKE I DO CARD

Well Noah is home sick today so I finally got this cute little owl finished. I love owls but I didn't have a big enough one for this 6 x 6 card so I made my own from this and that. This was so easy. For instance, the feet, beak and ears are all made from a heart punch. The red scalloped area behind the main part of the body was made from two oval scalloped punches. The eyes are just various size layered punches and all edged with ink pad. For the white ruffle ares along bottom, that is a piece of crate paper(streamers) taped with double side tape and folded back and forth. The little frame stands out with foam dots and I think it all goes together pretty well.

So what do you think? I think you could change from these beautiful Cosmo Cricket papers to any other color line to make this card fit for so many occasions. Just change the wording and you are all set. A little layered paper can go a long way!

New Thinking of You Card!

Hey all! Here is another fun idea I came up with to use my stickers. This card design is so easy to do but really gives you a great result. I started by taking the middle paper in the sandwich and punching out the three 1" circles. Then I took the top layer and turned it over. I traced the circles on to the back of the top layer and used the scalloped 1 1/4" punch. It makes it really easy to eyeball the sizing and placement this way. Then I wrapped around the ribbon and and connected them to the card itself.

I used a complimentary paper from the set so it really went well together. Once again the back looks as good as the front and it has a great clean finish. Then the very last thing was to stick the stickers in the 3 circle punched on the front and it is all done. What do you think? I would love to hear from you!

Birds of a Feather Celebrate Birthday's Together

So here is some inspiration for everyone today. I have been trying to build up some special cards for the upcoming birthdays of 2010. I can't stand when I am walking out the door and there is no handmade card in hand. See it is my own fault. I have been making cards along with many other projects for so long that people come to expect it and I think that I should live up to that expectation don't you.

This one is more for a adult. The picture doesn't totally show the shine to this card. On much of the black on the bird I layered the liquid glass to give some more dimension to it. I love the combo of colors. I make a bunch of bright happy colors for many of my birthday cards but it is nice sometimes to have a stronger more masculine set of colors. I also rolled the edges of the double sided paper flowers so they gave a pop out look. Also on the flowers, which you really can't tell in the picture, I used the liquid glass on the tan areas. It pulls the eye over the front of the card while leaving the bird the dominate feature. I hope you all enjoy it and make it a great Tuesday!

This is for sure a girl holiday. The great day of love many refer to as Valentine's Day is truly just a excuse for us to use PINK. I love pink and all of the fun that goes along with it. Here is my daily dose of pink for this time of year. And here is how I made it....

  • Start with a 5 x 5 base card(5x10 before folded)
  • 4 Similar papers that are 2 1/4 x 2 1/4
  • Edge them each with Metallic Gold and round one corner
  • Layered nesting hearts on chipboard and more Metallic on edges
  • Tape runner embellishment to card and add words

As far as the letters I used for love. They are foam stickers that where black but I wanted them to blend in a little more to the color scheme. So out came my trusty paints and everything matches beautifully!

Now as far as this little toss in. It was 2:00pm eastern time and the house was VERY, VERY FREE OF SOUND. This is not normal when all four of them are home from school. So I looked around downstairs and there was no one. I made my way up stairs and still no sounds. Until I opened our bedroom door and all of my little friends, along with their pillows, where watching a movie together. WOW this is the kind of stuff pictures are made of. So I grabbed the camera to mark this moment in history. And this is what I am thankful for today!

A CARD IN SECONDS!

Alright everyone, this one is quick and simple and not a lot of items are involved to create it. Not only as a Valentine, but think of the color changes you can make and embellishments and it turn into a quick birthday card. With some left over textured card stock this card was completed in minutes. It measures 4 1/2" 's square.

Here are the few products I used to complete it. If you haven't already purchased a Souffle Pen what are you waiting for? It is yummy and puffs up as it dries and can be used for so many things. I do go over my lines twice when I use it on such dark paper. Some times it comes out a little watered down. I also start it out on a separate paper to make sure it is flowing once I use it. Then there is my FABULOUS CONVERSATION HEARTS! This time of year I am using and selling these little guys like crazy so make sure you pick them up today!

More New STUFF!

Some of these I have been making for a couple of weeks and just have not had the time to list here. Others are brand new to the Lane. The above Red and White are to die for. They are a great color combination first of all. But they really give a elegant feel when added to your cards.

I love these snowflakes. The blue is just light enough and not to heavy. This is a paper with flowers here and there on it so you pick up the white lines every once and a while. So like real snowflakes, no two are alike.

This new Kitchen Paper is so awesome. I love the retro feel. What a great base for a hand made recipe book. You could gather a bunch of old hand written family recipes and really create something special.

I have these ribbons in white, red and a combo red/white. They are so different and you will find loads of things to do with them.

And I am sure by now you have seen my flash cards. These vintage finds are so great for adding to a page or even cutting and using as a base for your ATC's. I am always finding things to do with these!

What a pretty blue/white combo these snowflake stickers are. Soft when you first see them but when you add them to a white envelope they totally pop!

And last but not least these great new clear stamps from 7 Gypsies. It is a really big set for only 8.00 that you have to check out. I love adding stamps where ever I like on a page. Or stamping on separate paper, cutting and then adding back in. So simple and easy to make that layered look!
