Sunday Morning In Upstate New York

We woke up at 2:02 am to no power. Lucky for Pat and I, our new bedroom linens are so warm. before we new it both boys(the two little ones) climbed in until morning to stay warm. But we where so happy to wake up to this beautiful scene in our backyard.

The geese are above the trees trying to land on the water down back. The entire family has been sitting with our nose pressed against the window waiting to see the snow drop and the beauty we are so lucky to see in our own backyard.

Hopefully we don't have too many down branches with so many leaves left on the trees.

Oh and this last one is my wonderful little student of the month for the month of October. He loves to rub it into his sister and brothers that he has had that honor 4 years running now. I am not the bumper sticker kind of mom, but I am a blogger mom so here is my cyber bumper sticker....MY KID IS STUDENT OF THE MONTH!

HOW ABOUT A MIRROR FOR YOUR LITTLE ONES ROOM

So I was asked by my Logan if I could put a mirror in his room that he could see into. At 5 he is to short to see his pretty little face in any of the other ones. So I grabbed this plain little mirror and made it a little more my house friendly.

I started by layering a bunch of different papers (vintage ones) with Mod Podge. Then covered the entire thing with pattern making papers for the perfect tan background.

Then as I do many days of the week, I hooped over to the Graphics Fairy and collected a bunch of Vintage Flash card images and got to work. I printed them in all different sizes. I cut them out, inked all of the edges and adhered them with more Mod Podge. I also went over the top of the images with the Mod Podge to seal it.

I finished it all off with some great Gaffer Tape from my site and there you are. A great little project that you can make your own in no time. Find you favorite graphics and have at it. Decorate a little spot in your house that you had not thought of adding anything to~!

Mrs. Petersons Special Valentine

Mrs. Peterson is Logan's K-Teacher. She is wonderful. Everything you would want in a 5 year old's teacher from being nice to teaching the kids how to get along. So Logan looks at me with those big eyes and says..."can you make Mrs. Peterson one of your cards?" How could I say no?

So I have been having a ball with the streamers but didn't have the right color. Now if my Glimmer Mist had arrived by now I would have just sprayed white to the color I needed. But it is not here yet. So I folded pink inside of white and it gave me a soft color once I folded it. I punched a butterfly out of these wonderful K & Co. papers and turned it over. I bent the wings and glued down only the body so it looked like it was coming right off the page. There where some little left overs from me trimming the streamers so I tucked those under the heart. Added a little gold metallic ink around the edges and there you are the cute little Valentine that I know he can hand her with pride. I love creating things!

Hugs For Caden From Logan

It is hard to see the stamp on Logans 4 year old hand, but it says "HUGS FOR CADEN". Caden is a 4 year old little boy in Logans Pre-K class that has Mitochondrial Disease. He has been in and out of the hospital many times over the last few months. We attended a benefit in his honor last night to raise money to help with the mounting cost of his medical expenses. About 3 weeks ago, Logan and I had stopped to take money out of a ATM and on the board behind it was a flyer and a picture of his friend Caden. Logan had me read the flyer to him. After he wanted me to explain to him what a benefit was. I told him as simply as I could that people would go and eat and bring a couple extra dollars to help out Caden and his family. We went and got back in the car and ran around and went home. That afternoon, while doing laundry, he commented on the jar on the dryer that had change in it that I pulled out of peoples pockets before washing. He looked at me and said, "is there a couple of dollars in there"? I told him sure there must be. He then asked, totally from his GIANT four year old heart, "can we give that to Caden"? I said sure and the rest was history. Every time he saw even a penny on the ground in the parking lot he would pick it up and put it in what had become CADENS JAR. He called people to request..." just a couple of dollars". My mom and dad jumped right in. Pat told people at work about it and his great friends (Wes & Sherry) sent Logan money for the jar as well. It was just WONDERFUL. So proud, he carried that great big jar in last night and gave it to Cadens mom. I had everything to do not to cry from the pride that was inside me that Logan could care so much for someone else at 4. So this Sunday, instead of talking about some great new product or a fun new project I just finished, I HONOR my LOGAN and thank God for this incredible boy he has added to my life. He is a loving and caring soul. I could take credit for it but if you know Logan, you know he was just born that way!
